SF dispensaries offer a variety of cannasseur imbibing experiences

Despite what several callers to our company think, we are not a San Francisco dispensary.  We bring visitors to San Francisco on a fun and educational day trip to the indoor grows, cloning operations, and dispensaries pot farms in California’s Emerald Triangle in a wine tour style 420 tour.  But if you’re looking for a place for imbibing weed in San Francisco, we can help you with that, too. When the state of California’s legalized recreational cannabis, they left the details up to the individual cities and municipalities.  Every jurisdiction has their own rules concerning legal weed. Some issue tons of permits to dispensaries and consumption lounges while others refuse to permit any pot dispensaries whatsoever.

 

Fortunately, for world travelers coming to the city by the bay, it falls into the former category.  After all, San Francisco was the very first city in the United States to have a cannabis dispensary, back before even medical marijuana was legal.  Thanks, Dennis Peron, for The Cannabis Buyer’s Club, the first dispensary in SF and the United States!

 

What  makes an SF dispensary good for a tourist? 

 

In general, all the San Francisco dispensaries are comparable in quality and price.  When looking for what works best for cannasseurs and tourists to the bay area, our main considerations were whether the dispensary has a consumption lounge, since travelers can’t be imbibing in their hotel rooms, and their proximity to San Francisco’s frequently visited tour sites.  This places all our pics around Market & Mission streets, but this may change if and when proposed Fisherman’s Wharf dispensaries like 420 Beach Street and SeaWeed open.

 

With those caveats in mind, here is our list.

 

  1. SPARC – 1256 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 9410  – (415) 252-7727

SPARC has been serving San Francisco patients since before recreational weed was legal.  They have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. SPARC has a feel more like a medical clinic than a recreational lounge, and there’s no smoking on premises – only vaping.  That being said, they have several vaping devices like Volcanoes available for cannasseurs to use for imbibing, and plenty of space for those that want to hang out.

 

  1. Urban Pharm – 122 10th St, San Francisco, CA 94103 – (415) 872-9488

Urban Pharm has a vibe like a coffee house, and reminds me more of the coffee houses of Amsterdam more than any other San Francisco dispensary, but their imbibing lounge is the smallest of all the SF dispensaries on this list.

 

  1. Bloom Room – : 471 Jessie, San Francisco, CA 94103 – (415) 543-7666

Bloom Room is a little harder to find than the other SF dispensaries on this list, and because of that it’s probably the best place to go if you want to meet San Francisco locals.  The small imbibing lounge forces you to share tables, so meeting people there is built in to the experience.

 

  1. Moe Greens – 1276 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94102 – (415) 762-4255

Moe Greens is the newest San Francisco dispensary on this list, and hopefully, indicative of the way SF dispensaries are headed.  Their lounge is as big as a restaurant with several booths, tables are stocked with lighters, papers, bongs, whatever you need to imbibe your grass.  There are cups and free water available.  It also has a great Market Street location. My only criticism of Mo Greens is that the atmosphere is a little stark.  I’ve heard some customers say it reminds them more of a bank than an SF dispensary lounge. If you’re in town for a banking conference, this might be the ideal San Francisco dispensary for you.

 

  1. Barbary Coast – 952 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94103 – (415) 243-4400

You’ll find Barbary Coast at the top of many people’s list.  Owned by the same people that own Moe Greens, it sports the same large footprint, and decked out tables and water for their cannasseur guests, but Barbary Coast has a great atmosphere as well.  High ceilings and lots of dark wood and brick walls give it the feel of a high end bar. The lounge is decorated in Early Bordello with flocked wallpaper and Tiffany Lamp chandeliers.  It’s always hopping. Because of its popularity, you’re limited to 20 minutes in the lounge for imbibing. If you want to lounge for hours, this isn’t the place for you. The other lounges on this list don’t have the same time limitations.  Also, Barbary Coast is on Mission between 5th & 6th streets. Approach it from the 5th street side. 6th Street is a little sketchy.
